ASUS announced its ZenFone 3 lineup back at the end of May and is the successor of the ZenFone 2 lineup. At the launch event, the Taiwanese company announced three variants of the ZenFone 3, comprising of the ASUS ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Ultra and ZenFone 3 Deluxe. However, in July, the company added two more variants to the lineup, being the ASUS ZenFone 3 Laser and ZenFone 3 Max, bring the total number of smartphones in the lineup to five. In a bid to promote the ZenFone 3 Laser, ASUS posted a promotional video on its YouTube channel today highlighting a few features of the device.

At the start of the video, ASUS shows off the 13 MP rear camera of the ZenFone Laser which comes with laser auto-focus. According to the company, this will enable the IMX214 camera sensor from Sony to focus within 0.03 seconds. The camera is also assisted by Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) which will allow for steady video recording. ASUS also showcases the metal body of the device and its edges plus the 2.5D Gorilla Glass display. Next up is the fingerprint scanner located on the back of the device which ASUS claims will be able to unlock your device in 0.03 seconds. Lastly, the company shows off the smartphones software which is Android 6.0 Marshmallow with ZenUI which is customizable according to the video.
The 13 MP camera which can snap 52 MP pictures through ASUS’ Super Resolution Image feature happens to be the main selling point of the phone. While the ZenFone 3 Laser should be able to take great pictures and focus fast, no doubt its siblings the ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 3 Deluxe will be able to snap better looking pictures. The ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 3 Deluxe sport cameras with better resolution and are also assisted by Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) unlike the ZenFone 3 Laser which is only assisted by EIS. The ZenFone 3 Laser happens to be the more affordable device in the ZenFone 3 lineup and packs a Snapdragon 430 processor mated to 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. At the moment, the ZenFone 3 lineup is only available in a few countries in Asia but it is likely that ASUS will sell its devices outside of Asia in a matter of months. The ZenFone 3 Laser promotional video can be viewed below.
