The virus, a name well known in the field of computing. Many people know him, but a few of them know their definition. And here I have the idea to search and gather some definitions on these programs (viruses) and I managed to find some information or rather some definitions. So, the question that arises; "What is a computer virus?"

A computer virus is:

  • A dangerous computer program with the characteristic of being able to generate copies of itself, and thus spread in the computer system. In addition, most computer viruses have a destructive load that is activated under certain conditions.
  • potentially harmful computer program that adversely affects or infects a computer by changing the way the computer works, without the knowledge or permission of the user.
  • Software capable of reproducing itself and, in general, capable of causing a lot of harm to other programs or files on the same computer, "a real virus can not spread from one computer to another without the help of the man ".
  • A computer virus is a computer program that can duplicate itself and infect a computer without permission or knowledge of the user. The original can modify copies or copies can modify themselves, as happens in a metamorphic virus.
  • A computer program that can damage a computer by displaying messages, deleting files, or even destroying the operating system.
