Salizada Zorzi is one of those Venetian streets where you can’t quite believe that crowds of tourists are jostling past souvenir shops just round the corner: here it’s quiet and local-residential. Yet you can wander to St Mark’s square in five minutes or so, and most major sights are within easy reach on foot, as are restaurants galore. The San Zaccaria vaporetto stop, a major water bus hub, is a couple of minutes away, though there is one bridge to cross en route. Host Lorenzo will arrange to meet you at the dock on arrival and lead you to your room.
