Student Life

Leicester is a diverse and culturally exciting city that holds what's believed to be the largest Divali celebration outside of India. Victoria park and an extensive shopping area are further towards the centre of Leicester than the college and offer a place to socialise. The University of Leicester's large student body means that there's a young feeling to the city too. Leicester has a growing number of bars and clubs and its sizeable student population means that there's a range of options for most tastes.

Facilities and finances

The main campus is in South Wigston, in the southern outskirts of Leicester, where a new campus opened in September 2010. There are also three further campuses across Leicester, The King Power Stadium (home of Leicester City FC), Freemans Common and Belgrave.

Accommodation

The college does not offer any of its own accommodation as most students come from the local area. However the college can arrange for homestay accommodation with a local family, or assist on arrangements for private home accommodation, i.e. a room in a shared student house or flat. Home-stay arrangements work out at a cost of £115 per week but this price also generally includes the provision of all meals. A room in a shared house or flat can be secured for around £85 per week.

Education

State-of-the-art and eco-friendly campus opened in 2010 features a construction workshop, gym, library, therapies suite, radio broadcasting and filming studios, and nursery. The Martin Johnson Centre for Leadership and Management was founded by the World Cup-winning rugby star and offers business training, often to the private sector.

Sport

A gym is situated in the new campus and includes full size boxing ring, free weights, cardiovascular and weight resistant equipment, as well as a range of sport recovery facilities.
